Development of coupled PROTEUS-NODAL and SAM code system for multiphysics analysis of molten salt reactors

This paper presents the coupled code system of PROTEUS-NODAL and SAM developed for multiphysics simulation molten salt reactors (MSRs). The coupling was made under MOOSE framework by developing a wrapper master application that controls neutronics thermal-fluidic calculations. verified validated using Molten Salt Fast Reactor (MSFR) benchmark problem available experimental data Experiments (MSRE). Steady-state solutions MSFR agreed well with those manually calculations ANSYS CFX, transient open literature results. validation test results pump start-up, coast-down, natural circulation tests MSRE measured values. These indicate can be used reliably steady-state analyses MSRs.
